Since stumbling upon an image of his, I’ve really enjoyed his work and wanted to attempt to look into it. I think it’s conceptually fascinating despite being visually ordinary on occasion.
Research
Fauvism
I really enjoy the visual representativeness of the fauvism style. It’s very expressive and can be done in many ways. I don’t know if I’d incorporate it into my work, perhaps as a slightly muted concept.
Dada Art Movement
An exploration of the predecessor of surrealism. I think it’s interesting, but not to my taste, it would either require heavy editing which I find distasteful in my own images, or to be printed and cut which I doubt would end the way I wanted it to.
I do like that it’s art with a statement, but unfortunately due to the typically political nature, I don’t think I’d be able to as I have no interest in politics.
Brief Surrealism Research
I like the idea of surrealism. I’m not sure how well I’d be able to transfer most of its concepts to photography, but I’m very interested in the conceptual and psychological elements behind Rene Magritte’s ‘Leci n’est pas une pipe’ image. I intend to look into this work more.
